“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.” — Janette Walls, “The Glass Castle”
Shaw Point Collection Volume I
June 20th marks the beginning of summer, a perfect season to dive into a new book.
The longer days and warmer nights create an ideal backdrop for reading escapes. Whether you're lounging on the beach, relaxing at a local park, or enjoying a quiet evening in the backyard, a good book can make these moments even more enjoyable.
I was at the beach recently and surprised by the paperbacks I witnessed.
But it makes sense. Paperback books are more resilient to the harsh beach environment. They can withstand sand, sun, and splashes of water better than electronic devices. Unlike e-readers or tablets, paperbacks don’t require batteries or charging. Paperbacks are immune to screen glare, which can be a significant issue with electronic devices in bright sunlight.
The Shaw Point Collection, Volume I will be available in paperback June 26th on Amazon!
Perfect timing for tossing into your vacation bag. You’ll get the newest book in my Shaw Point Collection, Daisy’s Secret, followed by the original Shaw Point story (with some typo tweaks), and Annie’s Autumn. (If you are not an e-book reader, I’ve heard you! It’s now available to you.)
Are you an E-reader fan?
Of course, some readers are devoted to their e-readers! That’s fine. You can still read the books in the collection individually. (Sorry, the trilogy will only be offered as a print book.)
My newest addition to the Shaw Point saga is Daisy’s Secret.
After Daisy's husband leaves to seek work outside their sleepy Virginia town, a month goes by without a word. The household funds quickly run out, and she and their young daughter are forced to move on without him.
Daisy seeks work and lodging in a neighboring town, and when her new friends and neighbors assume she's a widow, she goes along with the ruse.
But when Daisy's secret is revealed, will the truth set her free, or will her fears of being shunned by the community become a reality?
When you pre-order the e-book you’ll get the discounted price. Once it is live on June 28th the price will revert to normal. You know about it first, so enjoy the inside info!
{If you currently subscribe to Ream, your complimentary e-book will be on its way, soon!}
And speaking of my reader community…
A New Short Story
If You Faint Not is a 5000-word short story challenge available for my followers on Ream (it is free to follow me!) This challenge required a “race” theme (race as in run, not ethnicity). I believe you’ll enjoy it.
Kira’s team is in a race for the last oasis in this inspirational post-apocalyptic tale. Teetering on the edge of self-destruction, will they learn to collaborate?
And I’ll release more chapters to A Wrong Turn Right in my Ream Community in June. Do you enjoy time-travel romance? If so, check out chapter one today.
